ALEX'S BIO
With a fearless approach to music and a deep-rooted sense of groove, Alex Bershadsky has established a distinctive voice in jazz and fusion. A bassist, composer, and bandleader, he combines technical command with a strong melodic sensibility, moving fluidly between jazz, funk, fusion, and contemporary global influences.
His playing blends lyrical improvisation with rhythmic precision and dynamic interaction, shaped by influences ranging from jazz tradition to rock and funk energy. The result is a direct, expressive sound that balances sophistication with raw immediacy.
Over the years, Bershadsky has performed and recorded with leading figures in the international jazz scene, including Dennis Chambers, Mike Stern, Oz Noy, Michael Manring, and Tal Bergman. His two New York–recorded albums, “Junk” (2007) and “Anonymous” (2011), produced in collaboration with Ian Freitor, received recognition in major international music and bass publications.
In the 1990s, he co-founded two influential projects: RTZ, a jazz fusion band with drummer Asaf Sirkis and guitarist Amir Perelman that toured Europe and released two albums, and Zonzee, a genre-blending group that released two albums, including “Time Flies” (NMC Records) featuring Mike Stern, and “Buzz” (2005).
He has also collaborated on international projects such as a 2014 video production with Dennis Chambers spanning Israel and New York, and appeared as part of the G.O.D (Gathering of Drummers) project led by Pavel Fajt.
Today, he leads the Alex Bershadsky Trio with keyboardist Rustik Lerman and drummer Tal Glasberg. The trio focuses on original material developed through extensive live performance and interaction, now evolving toward his third album as a leader.
In addition to performing and composing, Alex is an active educator,
conducting bass clinics and masterclasses worldwide.
He has also represented Zon Guitars for over a decade, including appearances at NAMM in Los Angeles and clinics alongside Michael Manring in the UK.
His current endorsements include Fodera Basses and DR Strings.
